The Metamorphosis of Nature

Well I've finally finished making my neckpiece! It was very exciting and I don't quite know what to do with myself now (well, I do, there's evaluations and dissertations to do but they're not quite as exciting)

The feather, leaf and flower sections are all available separately as well as together.

Over half way now...

Got my leaf bit finished! How exciting, I'm more than half way finished now which makes it even more exciting.

Layered with the feathers too...

Next week is flower week, this will get finished!

Shoulders (knees and toes, knees and toes...)

Remember all those beautiful flowers I made yesterday?  I sewed them all onto a little shoulder shape I made and can start making my final one now!
Then I decided to be a good friend and help one of the girls dye a dress for Hallowe'en (we're dead Hollywood stars, Marylin Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Rita Hayworth!) but it was polyester so wouldn't dye, we did mention this to her. I think I need new gloves for when I dye, mine don't seem to be doing so well...
(The flash took a lot of the mouldy/dead look out of my fingers, they looked like when Dumbledore had put on the cursed Horcrux ring!)

Designing Excitement...

I've had a busy week, I've been designing different neckpieces I could make and trying not to put too many pin holes in my drawings...
(No idea why this one doesn't want to be portrait, it did the same on my Facebook page and I've no idea how to fix it lol. I'ts been saved properly, honest)

Heres a leaf to make up for a silly sideways picture...

Christmas and College

Well, I hope you all had a very merry christmas, I know I did...
Sadly after the excitment of lots of beautiful threads it's back to getting up before the sun does and getting home after its set. It has been quite exciting though, it's nearly deadline and I'm nearly done:
(Box lid)
Are you as excited as I am :)

Pretend Butterflies

Well, had a very busy few days of sewing, sewing and more sewing and I've made quite a few butterflies for you to see...
It's not finished or even close but thought you'd like a peek in my head of what it'll look like :)

Camberwell Beauty

Had a very exciting friday, I made a pretendy neckpiece base for practice. I used plain cotton for the top and layered chiffon over plain cotton for the collar. That bit didn't work quite as well as I'd hoped, mainly cos I'd been ignoring the fact that chiffon was quite so see-through so its ended up with a big hem so I'm gonna try overlocking and, fingers crossed, that'll work better.
Then I sewed and sewed and sewed and made some beautiful Camberwell Beauty Butterflies...
This one is is organza with free motion machine embroidery

This is a photocopy on acetate that I machine embroidered the detail on.

I loooove the organza one, I was so excited I didn't wnt to look at it while I was sewing the bottom wings on which I think is why it went a bit wonkey lol. The thing is though, because the fabric is so light and the embroidery is so heavy, the wings just fall. I think that when I've gont a lot together I'll be able to put a little stitch between the wings and that'll sort it.
The acetate one actually worked a lot better than I thought it would which was quite a nice suprise. I might put the occasional acetate butterfly on to keep the wings upright.

It's getting exciting now...

I've been playing with my 3D butterflies and I'm a bit excited now - I pinned them onto a mannequin neck to see what they'd look like and I want to make it now!

These are my fave 3 layouts...
Was thinking of doing either the first one or the last one, I just liked how the middle one reminded me of a bowtie :)
