Degree Show!

Been super busy these last few weeks preparing for my Degree Show!
There was lots of painting things white (I needed sunglasses at the end of it everything was so bright white!) to prepare the space before we finally got to start putting our work up.
It was very exciting seeing everything come together over the few days we were putting work up and after a few minor disasters on my part - the main one being having things fall and an acrylic butterfly shatter! - but everything got fixed and I'm really pleased with how it looks.
While I didn't take my camera round I've managed to get pictures from the people who did of Opening Night...

Busy Busy!

I've just had a look and turns out I've not written anything for a month!
I've been very busy since last time working in my final collection that was handed in earlier today!

There have been many a late night working on pieces (especially those vines!) leading up to a fab photo shoot a few weeks ago. My photographer, make up artist and model were amazing, huge thanks to all of you.

I'm really pleased with how the final photo's have turned out. These are just a few I took, I'll post the professional ones after my Degree Show, open from 5th June.
This is it for my Uni work now. All handed in. Now there's just the Degree Show to organise!

Dry Point Etching

We had a few really fun workshops at Uni today in different printing techniques. We did dry point etching and Collagraphs.

The dry point etching was really fun having to scratch out all the areas we wanted printing and getting messy with the oil paint. We have our own printing press from 1835 that we use to actually print with and had great fun creating enough pressure to make the print work. I was quite pleased with how mine turned out and would like to try some more of it.

We didn't finish the collagraphs as the last part of the process was to coat everything with PVA to make it more durable to print with but it was great fun sticking loads of stuff down and getting covered in glue and paint!

There are loads of pictures of this workshop on our degree show Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/TSDDegreeshow2014 and you can keep up to date with all our work and preparation for the final show!

Opening Night!

Opening night was really quite exciting, there were so many people looking around and asking about work. There was even some interest in Azadi and the feathers which was good. And, since the show's now public, you can finally see the final thing on here too!
It was such a good night and I'm so glad I got to make the products I did. Huge thanks must go to my tutors and the technicians for actually getting me here and to Mr Brian Bedford for letting me use his amazing song.

The Show...

... I've set it up!
It took all day and was rather stressful (I had to screw and unscrew the contraption I'm hanging my cage from about 5 times and it ended up where it started in the first place) but it's done and ready for Thursday. We're in tomorrow to make the rest of College look as beautiful as our little bit, not sure how we're gonna manage that though.
For now here's a little pic of what out show'll be like...
